Born and raised in Fukuoka, Japan. (600 miles southwest of Tokyo.) Never took any martial arts in Japan.
Moved to California in 1984.
Found Shotokan Karate of America (SKA) in Redding. Started training under the instruction of Ken Osborne, Godan*, in 1985. A great fortune! Obtained the rank of Yodan** in 2001.
*Godan (5th degree black belt) is the highest rank achievable in SKA. **Yodan is 4th degree black belt.
Took Danzan Ryu Jujitsu under the instruction of Shihan Jane Carr in Redding. (1990-1993) Obtained Gokyu (5th kyu).
Currently taking Kendo in Redding. (Sept. 2003- ) Practice with a sword helps my karate with focus and concentration. Obtained Yonkyu (4th kyu) on May 23, 2005. - SKA Member
