Mental Strength

Monday's Practice was powerful for me, even though I felt very weak...I've just completed my busy senior season, and now am trying to focus again on my training as we only have one month now before testing, and I've been absent from practice so much these past eight weeks...

We had an intense practice even though we mainly just covered basics, now that Sensei has been recording our practices I think we are all trying harder to perfect our form and stay strong.

Near the end of practice, during Kumite with Sensei, I took a hit to my chin which stunned  me...it didn't hurt physically, but it shook me emotionally, and I lost my mental strength and had a hard time re-composing myself...Sensei, so sensitive and wise, helped me through my mental lapse and tried to refocus my mental energy back to practice and was able to carry me through, even though I just wanted to breakdown and quit.  I can't tell you how lucky we are to have Sensei Hiroko and Brad as our Teachers, they are just so wonderful and generous and

strong...I just want to express my gratitude for the many many hours of time they give us to make us better people, stronger in mind and Spirit.  Those of us at Practice Monday also had the opportunity to receive the new SKA Kata DVD with all Eighteen SKA Katas performed by Sensei Hiroko, and Brad , what a Treasure!  We are so lucky to get this and all for just a small donation to our Redding Shotokan Karate, I encourage everybody who can to get this and contribute as much as they can afford to this wonderful organization.
