Our Amazing Weekend of Women's Practice 2007 (March 2, 3 & 4)We had stormy weather for more than a week in Northern California. It cleared up "a day" before our trip to Shotokan Ohshima Dojo in Santa Barbara. Lynette (a professional photographer who joined Redding Shotokan several months ago) and I were both very excited when we left Redding in her car Friday morning. After 9 hours of long drive, we finally got to Carpinteria. We were both ready for sushi! If you don't know it yet, Sushi Teri is the place to go when you are there. Sushi, miso soup and everything was simply oishii!! The weather was perfect the next morning. When we arrived, the view of Shotokan Ohshima Dojo was so gorgeous and peaceful as always. I was very happy and proud when I told Lynette, "So this is our Ohshima Dojo!" Of course, she loved it! I think I finally started understanding (just a tiny tip of the huge iceberg of) what Sensei had been repeating for us "for years" as to why we need to see ourselves strictly in order to become able to see the oppornent's attacks in "slow motion!"
